Development/Membership Internship

Reports to: Operations Development Manager

Guidelines: Minimum of 2 months 15 to 20 hours per week (M-F). Regular schedule preferred, but can be flexible. Internships are non-compensated. All interns must be interviewed and complete an application to participate.

Duties:
Maintain and update donor and/or member database and files
Research new donors and development avenues
Assist in planning and working fundraising activities and events
Assist with drafting and producing donor and member correspondence.
Ensure membership and fundraising materials are distributed to the public.
Undertake various tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
Desire to learn about fundraising and nonprofit operations.
Strong organizational, communication, and written skills.
Computer skills and online research experience a must.
Knowledge of data base programs such as FileMaker and Excel.

Academic Credit:
Contact your school directly regarding their policies for obtaining course credit for internships. The Museum encourages interns to seek academic credit and will assist interns whenever possible.

Benefits:
Exhibit Interns at MHCM will gain experience in non-profit operations specifically related to development and membership at a children’s museum. Interns will be an important part of daily operations and work with all staff and departments as a team as well as interact with the public.
