Kick off the summer with an international
festival of live performances, art activities, food and other
summer fun! Enjoy face painting; make bubbles, dance to global
rhythms and more. This event is funded in part with public
funds from New York Start Council on the Arts, A State Agency,
Dutchess County Art Council and the Robert R. Chapman Fund.
Ticket cost: $5 per person
Ticket and museum admission: $10, Attendees of Celebrate
Summer are offered a discounted museum admission of $5 per
person.

Celebrate the Quadricentennial -
the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson sailing up the Hudson
River at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum. Join our Museum educator,
Lisa DiMarzo, for a SERIES of interactive educational presentations
highlighting the Hudson River Flowing through Time. Each program
will starts with a brief introduction followed by hands-on activities
and fun crafts. Come and see the river like you've never seen
before!

Journey
Take an incredible journey in this water cycle game. Pretend
to be a drop of water and find out how water moves around
the planet earth!
July 26
The River in 1777- Battles of
Saratoga
Using artifacts, storytelling and improvisation we will go
back in time to see why these battles are considered the turning
point in the American Revolution.
August 30
The River 1009 years ago - The
Three Sisters
Come and learn about the lifeways of the Algonquians, the
native people who lived on this land 1000 years ago. We will
dramatize companion planting through improvisation and lifelike
props!
September 27
The river in 9,400 B.C.E. - The Hyde Park Mastodon!
Step back in time to meet the Hyde Park Mastodon, an exact
casting of the 11,400 year old bones found in Hyde Park, New
York.
During the week,
youth will focus on the creative use of clay, paper, and other
assorted 3D objects as they work in pairs or three at a time
to make stop-motion animated movies. Youth will learn how to
make backgrounds and figures, create movement, tell a story
visually, and make a soundtrack. CMP teaching artists will edit
the videos during the workshop with direction from youth participants.
Each youth will receive a DVD copy of the animations.

Lego ™ brick "MOM " Linda and preschool teacher
Kelly on a wonderful bricks and books adventure. Go home with
a book and a Lego ™ brick creation each day!
Please
note: Although this is a separate program, you can register
your 4 - 6 year old for the morning Children's Museum's summer
camp program and have them released to BRICK KIDS in the afternoon.
Just sign them up for both programs and write "all -day"
on the registration forms. Pack a lunch!

through time this summer! Using the Children's Museum's big
wall map as our guide, we will visit the wonders of the world!
With Lego ™ bricks we will build the Great Wall of China,
the Step Pyramids of Central and South America and more. Go
home with a new Lego ™ creation every day!
Cost: $175
per week. Limit of 15 children. Register before May 31st and
get a reduced price of $160. The camp cost does not include
