Celebrities Serve Up More Than Brunch to Raise Money
For Local Children’s Museum
On Sunday, March 21, 16 waiters arrived at the Grandview
in Poughkeepsie wearing tuxedo shirts and a zany array of
shorts. The men were gearing up to compete in a legs contest
as part of the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum’s
3rd Celebrity Waiter’s Brunch. 165 people attended the
event which raised over $15,000 for the non profit organization
and did so with laughs, smiles, music and fun.
The waiters were introduced to the theme song of their choice
and many of them got very creative with the introductions,
creating an entire alter ego as they walked the runway and
wow’d the crowd. Ben Thompson, aka Benny “Balboa”
Thomson from AltasStar, was introduced to the Rocky theme
song complete with ring girls, an entourage and even wore
a robe embroidered with the Children’s Museum logo on
the back! David MacFarland, president of Riverside Bank, who
has participated in the event and won in prior years, was
dressed as an Irish Leprechaun from head to toe. The winners
of the legs contest were chosen by the audience who completed
ballots and voted in 5 categories. The trophies were a pair
of golden legs created exclusively for the event by Statuary
Church Products. While the ballots were being tabulated, dancers
from Yanarella’s School of Dance in Beacon entertained
the crowd with a high energy dance routine!
Winners of the legs contest were:
· Chicken Legs- Michael Spector of Central Hudson
· Most Athletic Legs- Tony D’Aquanni of Money
Mailer of Dutchess County
· Gorilla Legs- Ended in a tie between NYS Assemblyman
Marcus Molinaro and Michael Mazzuca of TD Bank, and Michael
Mazzuca won by audience applause.
· Smooth as Silk- Woodman host of K104’s Woodman
in the Morning Show
· Best in Show- Ended in a tie between Ben Thompson
of AtlasStar and David MacFarland of Riverside Bank. The winner
by audience applause was Ben Thompson.

Hudson Gas & Electric, L.C.S. Facility Group, M&T
Bank and Riverside Bank. |
