Q. How far in advance do I have to book my child's party?
A. Reservations should be made at least one month in advance of your preferred birthday party date, as we have a limited number of party slots on the weekend
 
Q.  I'd like to have a party after-hours.  How far in advance do I have to make my reservation?
A.   After-hours private parties must be booked at least one-month in advance
 
Q.  Can I hire entertainment for my child's party?
A.  The hiring of entertainers who are not affiliated with the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum is not permitted during museum hours.  Upon prior approval by museum staff, outside entertainment may by allowed during private after-hours parties.
 
Q. What things are not permitted?
A.  Alcoholic beverages, explosive materials, and piƱatas are prohibited.  The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum is a non-smoking campus.  Smoking anywhere on the museum grounds is prohibited
 
Q. Several of the guests at my party are members of the museum, but I am not.  Do I still get a discount?
A.  For membership discount to apply, you must be an active museum member at the time of party booking and the date of the party.
 
Q. Is there a deposit required?
A. Payment in full is due at time of reservation for all D.I.Y. Parties.   Half of the balance is due at time of booking for all Themed Parties.
 
Q. Can I see the party facility prior to making a reservation? 
A. Yes! We encourage you to notify the reservationist before coming into the museum. 
 
Q. Who should I include in my head count?
A. Please include every person participating in the festivities unless they are under the age of 1, including the birthday child.  Siblings and adults of invited guests will be included in the count as well.
 
Q. When do I have to pay for my party?
A. All monies must be received no later than one week prior to your party.
 
Q. Where do I check in for my party?
A. Upon your arrival let the Guest Services Staff know you are here and for which party.  
 
Q. How will our party guests be recognized?
A. Each party guest participant will receive a “Happy Birthday!” sticker to wear while in the Museum. This is our way of recognizing your group, and it also allows for admission to the Museum following your child’s celebration. You will be asked to provide a headcount of your guests to the Party Coordinator prior to arrival at the Museum, and we will provide this exact number of stickers to your participants. 
 
Q. Will someone be there to assist me during my party?
A. A birthday host will be available for the Themed Parties only.  The host will lead the craft and assist in serving the food and the cake.  The host will also ensure your party room is set up by the time your party is scheduled to start.
 
Q. If I decide to bring my own food, is there somewhere to store it?
A. There is limited food storage facilities available and is on a first come first served basis. Please inform the Guest Services Staff if you need something refrigerated.  Warmers, crock pots, microwaves, sternos are not permitted.
  
Q. How do I get my party supplies to and from my car?
A. You will be responsible for getting all your items from the car to the party location and back. We have a cart available to assist with the process. 
 
Q. What if I am not utilizing your party room, but I want to have a party?
A. Parties are not permitted in the museum unless it is at a scheduled time in one of our party rooms.  Balloons, cake, gifts, and all other party items will not be permitted into the museum.
